Community Integrated Employment Services

Who is served?
You are served if you are an adult with mental retardation, or an adult with mental health or substance abuse problems who needs assistance in finding a job.
Why is the service available?
The Community Integrated Employment Service helps you to become as independent as possible by helping you to find and keep a job .
What is the service?
- You will meet privately with a professional Job Coach who will talk to you about any work experiences you may have had in the past, as well as any interests you may have that could help you in a new job.
- You and the Job Coach will talk about where you might wish to work and when you are available to work.
- If needed, you and the Job Coach will also talk with your family or those close to you about how they can help support you on the job, such as how you might go to and from the work location, as well as what you might need to wear on the job.
- You and the Job Coach will review newspapers, web sites and other methods to help you find a job you might be interested in doing.
- You and the Job Coach will prepare your resume for a prospective employer and together you will go on job interviews.
- Once you are offered a position, the Job Coach will work with you at your job site to assure that your first days on the job are as smooth as possible.
- The Job Coach will work with you and your employer for as long as it takes until you are comfortable on the job and can do the job independently and to your employer’s satisfaction.
- If your job changes or your supervisor changes, your Job Coach will return to work with you on the job to help you learn the new job and help you keep the job.
- The Job Coach will also work with you and other appropriate agencies to coordinate care and to assure authorizations for services.
Where is the service located?
- 8225 Castor Avenue, Northeast Philadelphia, 19152 for initial meetings and job planning.
- On-the-job service is provided wherever you are working.

- Monday to Friday - 9 AM to 5 PM for Job Planning.
- On-The-Job Service - Whenever you are working.
You are eligible to receive services if:
- You have mental retardation, you reside in Pennsylvania and are registered with Philadelphia Mental Retardation Services (MRS). If you are not registered, PATH staff can help connect you with this governmental agency so that you can be registered.
- You have mental health or substance abuse problems, you reside in Philadelphia and you are registered with the Philadelphia Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR). If you are not registered, PATH staff can help connect you with this governmental agency, so that you can be registered.
- You receive approval and PATH receives authorization from either Philadelphia Mental Retardation Services or the Philadelphia Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
- This authorization allows PATH to provide vocational services to you with no cost to you or your family.
