Who is served?
You are served if you are an adult with mental retardation who is in
need of evening and weekend services and you live with your family.
Why is the service offered?
The Socialization, Recreation and Respite Program helps you learn
skills so that you will be as independent as possible in your personal
and social life.
What is the service?
- You will be supported in increasing your skills by making choices of activities in which you would like to participate and trips you would like to take. This is done by participants and a monthly calendar is developed.
- On the trips, you will have the opportunity to increase community skills such as, purchasing, ordering food from a restaurant, learning proper community etiquette and developing community safety skills.
- You will have the opportunity to develop long-term friendships and develop leisure skills while participating in community activities.
- You may be eligible for transportation to and from the service if you live in Northeast Philadelphia.

When is the service available?
- Tuesday and Thursday - 7 PM to 9:30 PM
- Every Other Saturday - 10 AM to 3 PM
- You reside in Pennsylvania and are registered with Philadelphia Mental Retardation Services (MRS). If you are not registered, PATH staff can help connect you with this governmental agency so that you can become registered.
- You receive approval and PATH receives authorization from Philadelphia Mental Retardation Services.
- This authorization allows PATH to provide this day service to you with no cost to you or your family.
