Program Supervisor - CLA

Job Summary

Responsibilities are mainly in the areas of developing and monitoring client goals and supervision of resident staff.  Intensive work will be done with clients exhibiting maladaptive (behavioral or psychological; psychiatric) behaviors.  Will provide expertise and act as a general resource for residential staff.  The individual in this position is expected to work 50% of his/her hours when residential sites are occupied by clients and staff (i.e. after 3 p.m. weekdays, weekends, or during morning hours).

 

Specific Duties

  • Train and support staff in utilization of psychological approaches to be used for specific clients.

  • Provide “hands-on”, one-to-one training with problematic clients.

  • Review and monitor specific client goals and documentation.

  • Assist staff in developing appropriate documentation tools.

  • Regularly assess client progress.

  • Complete annual review of clients’ Individual Program Plan.

  • Review all monthly reports for clients.

  • Be “on-call” (via beeper) to handle situations.

  • Coordinate and participate in all meetings with outside behavioral, psychiatric, occupational consultants, etc.

  • Act as Program Liaison with appropriate staff on those occasions a client has been hospitalized (psychiatric or medical).

  • Keep case managers informed of all relevant information and monitor those clients receiving psychotherapy services.

  • Liaison with clients’ psychiatrists.

  • Supervise residential staff.

  • Process clients’ SS/SSI re-determination forms.

  • Monitor petty cash.

  • Review medication logs.

  • Facilitate client moves.

  • Assist in preparation for annual state inspection.

  • Monitor and review client finances, personal property.

  • Utilize personal auto for apartment visits, and to respond to emergency situations.

  • Provide transportation to clients, as needed, utilizing agency vehicles.

  • Complete annual evaluations of assigned staff, in conjunction with the Assistant Director.

  • Ensure all available vacancies are filled by interviewing and selecting prospective employees and recommending them for hire to the Human Resources Department.

  • Conduct orientation of new staff (e.g. client goals and needs and apartment routines).

  • Approve vacation, personal and sick leave; process time sheets of staff under your supervision.

  • In conjunction with Human Resources, participate in related investigations.

  • Handle disciplinary problems by discussing them with your supervisor (CLA Director and Assistant CLA Director) and the Human Resources Department.

  • Refer all requests for references to Human Resources due to liability reasons.

  • Ensure assigned staff are adequately trained in his/her job function.

  • Keep supervisor informed of all problematic situations.

  • Maintain regular communication with staff through on-going supervision

 

Position Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license and use of personal automobile.  Individuals in this position must have a physical examination within 12 months prior to employment and every two years thereafter.  Examination to include tuberculin skin testing by Mantoux Method with negative results, and a statement that the person is free of communicable diseases.

Education Requirements

A Master’s degree and one (1) years’ experience working directly with persons with mental retardation, or a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience working with individuals with mental retardation, or an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credit hours and four (4) years’ experience working with persons with mental retardation

Location

Community Living Arrangements - 8220 Castor Avenue and numerous residential sites in Northeast Philadelphia

Schedule

37.5 Hours per Week

Salary

$29.328 per Year / $15.04 per Hour
