MEDICAL DEPARTMENT - Medical Director: Nora Kramer, MD

Who is served?

You are served if you are a child or adolescent experiencing mental health problems or mental health and substance abuse problems.

Why is the service offered?

The Child Psychiatrist works with you, your family, and your treatment team to help you identify the source of your problems and ways that these problems can be resolved.

What is the service?

  • You and your family will meet privately with a child psychiatrist. A child psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in helping children and adolescents with mental health problems.
  • You and your family will discuss, with your psychiatrist, your concerns and difficulties you are experiencing.
  • You will receive a comprehensive evaluation to determine if medication could help you manage some of the symptoms you are experiencing.
  • If medication is recommended it will be discussed with you and your family. Everyone must consent to the medication before it can begin. You and your family are free to accept or decline the psychiatrist’s recommendation.

  • If you decide to take medication, the psychiatrist becomes a member of your treatment team and will meet with you on a regular basis to monitor your progress.
  • You and your family can continue to receive other PATH services that are recommended by your treatment team.
